The Society of St. Vincent de Paul at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church is a network of friends, inspired by Gospel values, growing in holiness and building a more just world through personal relationships and service to people in need. We believe in empowering communities through compassion and service. Our dedicated volunteers work tirelessly to provide support and resources to those in need, ensuring no one has to face hardship alone.

The answer to this question can more clearly be given by speaking about what a Vincentian is rather than what a Vincentian does. Many times, when we join the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, we join because we have been invited to do something: to make home visits, take phone calls, or serve in a food pantry. It may be only after years of service that we realize that we are no longer "volunteers" - we are Vincentians.
Like the Catholic Church, the Society's global nature means that it recognizes the reality and the gift of diversity among its members and those it serves.
The Society actively seeks to recruit and retain volunteers without regard to race, creed (with the exception of Active members, who must be Catholic), color, gender, sexual orientation

The Society actively seeks to recruit and retain volunteers without regard to race, creed (with the exception of Active members, who must be Catholic), color, gender, sexual orientation, disability, marital status, veteran status, national origin, age or physical handicap. Vincentians understand that our differences are an asset in our unified mission to grow in holiness through service to our neighbors. The Society should regularly assess whether they are welcoming places for potential Vincentians of all background.
Vincentian spirituality cannot be separated from the many types of person-to-person service we perform. Just as important as what service we do is how we do it. We approach our service with a Vincentian heart, following ideals given to us.
